Carolyn Langer, MD, JD, MPH

VP and Chief Medical Officer, Anthem National Accounts

Dr. Carolyn Langer has an extensive career as a physician executive, currently serving as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Anthem National Accounts (ANA). In this capacity, she provides clinical strategy and leadership for large employer groups in advancement of ANA’s whole person, integrated advocacy model. Previous roles include CMO at the Massachusetts Medicaid program (MassHealth), CMO at Fallon Health, and senior leadership positions at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Tufts University School of Medicine Office of Continuing Education, and ManagedComp (a managed care workers’ compensation insurance company).

Dr. Langer holds an appointment as an Associate Professor at the UMass Chan Medical School and as an Instructor at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH), where she teaches in the mid-career Master in Health Care Management program. She also sits on the Advisory Board of the Health Law, Policy, and Management Department at the Boston University School of Public Health.

Dr. Langer received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completed her residency at the HSPH. She is board certified in occupational medicine. Dr. Langer also holds a law degree and a Masters in Public Health from Harvard University and an MBA from Babson College. She is a retired Colonel and former flight surgeon in the Army National Guard.
